Visit Maldives Pro 2022 – Day 5 – HIGHLIGHTS

Amaury Lavernhe and David Hubbard make history with both of them lining up for a grand finale in both the Men’s Division and the Drop-knee Division.

Double delight for the veteran champions, as both David aka Dubb and Amaury aka Moz confirmed their places in the finals. This is the first time in IBC World Tour history that we have had the same finalists in 2 different categories.

In the Men’s Open Semifinal, Frenchman Amaury beat current world number one, Tristan Robert, in a breathtaking encounter with a perfect score of 10.00 in his last wave of the semifinal heat. Current champion Tristan struggled to show his class today, while two-time former champion Amaury showed his patience and confidence throughout the heat.

The 40-year-old veteranwas too good for the young Tanner McDaniel in semifinal heat 2, where David scored 10.00 on a single wave to seal his place in the finals.

With perfect conditions at “Varunula” raalhugandu today, former champion Alexdandra Rinder beat current champion Sari Ohara to book a place in the Women’s Open final. In an all-Brazilian semifinal, Isabela Sousa beat Neymara Carvalho with a close score of 11.90 against 9.25.

In the Drop-Knee Division, 8x Champion Hawaiian David ended the historic run of Maldivian champion Ali Khuruwan Ahmed. David will compete against Frenchman Amaury, who managed to make his mark in this year’s edition by beating his countryman Fabian Thazar.

After an entertaining and spectacular encounters today, all finals are set for Saturday.
