Dave Hubbard steals the show on last day of Visit Maldives Pro 2022

Hawaiian Dave Hubbard beats Amaury Lavernhe in both the Men’s and Dropknee categories to take home 2 titles with a tremendous display in the finals.

In the dropknee category, Dave showed his dominance in this division posting a total score of 16.0 in the final. Frenchman Amaury, only managed a final total of 11.75.

Dave continued his form into the Men’s final, keeping his cool until the very last seconds to steal the title from Amaury. With a score of 14.40, Amaury was leading throughout the heat. Dave needed 7.90 to beat Amaury and he did that in the last wave. With 40 seconds to go, Dave scored 8.00 for his last wave.

In the Women’s division, it was Brazilian Isabela Sousa who took home the title with a comfortable win over Alexandra Rinder. Isabela dominated the heat throughout, and won the finals with a total score of 16.00 against 9.75.

In the Junior Men final, Gabriel Molina beat local boy Aamin Moosa in a nerve-racking heat. Local support came via a huge crowd who gathered at Varunulaa Raalhugandu to support Aamin. The local rider led the heat until the last minute when Gabriel managed to grab the score he need on his final wave, defeating Aamin with a total score of 13.00 to 12.10.

Visit Maldives Pro 2022 ended with massive celebrations, where all the participants showed appreciation towards the teams involved in putting together the event and the quality of the waves throughout.
