Challenging conditions were the order of the second day of the Sintra Portugal Pro, however the riders didn’t let the small and inconsistent surf get the better of them and many a fine display of technical bodyboarding was served.

Round 3 and 4 of the Mens Pro saw Portuguese riders shine, and in particular, Daniel Fonseca, current Portugese National Champion.

“It is something I’ve worked hard for several years and dreamt about too. I think this could be the year. At least I’m going to put everything on the table to make it” ,Fonseca stated.

In the final heat of the day, Costa Rican, Yazdanny Castro, earned the highest scoring wave of the contest to date with an impressive 8.83, in very challenging conditions.

The race for the 2021 World Dropknee Title is shaping up to be an epic battle with the quarter finals now stacked and ready to go. Dropknee division with the plot thickening, which is to say, the quarter finals, that will oppose Frenchman Amaury Lavernhe will go head to head with Hawaiian Kellen Yamasaki, whilst current world champion Sammy Morretino will have to contend with a very on form Iain Campbell in his quarter final. The other 2 quarter finals are comprised of Dave Hubbard vs Fabien Thazar and Kawika Rohr Kamai has drawn Hugo Hernandez.

Kawika Rohr Kamai, one of the most flamboyant Hawaiians in the comp stated:

“My most difficult opponents will be my fellow Hawaiians. This in Sintra almost feels like a comp back home, and even the water is strangely warm for Portugal.”
