Day 4 Highlights – Sintra Portugal Pro 2021

The fourth day of competition saw challenging conditions once again for the competitors in the Mens Open and Womans divisions. Wave selection was critical in rider strategies throughout the day.

The Mens Open round 5 and 6 were completed and saw a few of the big names exit the competition. Iain Campbell did not make it out of his round 5 heat, and neither did Lionel Medina or Ilias Ousmouh.

Round 6 saw Maxime Castillo, Daniel Fonseca and Ricardo Rosmaninho along with a few other riders bow out of the Sintra Portugal Pro. Round 7 is fully loaded with many favourites still in the hunt for the title including young gun Joel Rodrigues.

“I am very happy with my performance and confident for the next round. “

The two of the four womans quarters finals were run right at the end of the day in what can only be described as ‘golden’ conditions. Despite the lack of good rides, a few of the girls braved the rolls directly onto the beach.

Isabela Sousa proved unstoppable as she continues her campaign to take the womans Sintra Portugal Pro title.

The news of the death of the former Portugal president Jorge Sampaio, saw the event hold a minute of silence in honour of his passing. Sampaio was always a great supporter of the bodyboarding event, having been present at the Sintra Portugal Pro during his presidency.
