Pascuales, Colima, Mexico — July 7, 2026
Boca de Pascuales just made history! After a 14-year drought since Mexico last hosted a World Tour event, this iconic beach came back swinging for its IBC World Tour debut. Mother Nature definitely got the memo, serving up heavy, extreme conditions with sets easily pushing past 10 feet, making for an epic day of deep barrels and high-flying air maneuvers.
Day 5 was all about Round 4 (the Round of 16) with some intense man-on-man matchups. The winners punched their tickets straight to the Quarterfinals, locking in their spots among the top 8 riders who will battle it out on finals day.

Round 4
• Chile’s Matías Díaz put on a killer performance but was knocked out in a super tight battle against Moroccan veteran Brahim Iddouch, who used his experience to advance to the quarters.
• A clash of Mexican titans! Carlos Cruz pulled off the biggest upset of the event by taking down local legend Alfonso Aguilar. Cruz posted the highest total score of the contest so far with a massive 18.00 points, pairing a super deep right-hand barrel into a roll (9.25) with a second heavy tube that scored an 8.75.
• The feel good story of the day belonged to 15 year old Puerto Escondido local Oliver Díaz. Showing insane maturity in massive surf, the kid knocked out former World Junior Champion Micheel Yancce from Peru.
• Two time World Champ Amaury Lavernhe (Spain) looked absolutely unstoppable in the heavy conditions. He stuck a critical, knife-edge takeoff into a crazy barrel to score 16.25 points, eliminating Chile’s rising star Mikelle Arriagada.
• French powerhouse and fellow two-time World Champ Pierre Louis Costes (PLC) relied on his veteran savvy to defeat Mexico’s Andrés Solís. Solís wraps up an awesome run at the event with a well deserved 9th place finish.
• Tahiti’s Tahiri Tehei dominated his heat after pulling into a massive left hand barrel and launching a huge invert air that the judges rewarded with a 9.00, leaving local rider Ronaldo Hernández with no answers despite a great effort.
• A matchup between close friends and compatriots saw Kalany Favela keep his undefeated streak alive, advancing in first place and sending his buddy Bryan López home.
• The final heat of the day featured a heavy matchup between two close friends and Top 16 riders from the Canary Islands. Armide Soliveres locked down the win by taking off on a massive wave, getting heavily barreled, and throwing a roll for a 9.5, leaving Lionel Medina with no way back. Soliveres is looking to keep his 3-year Latin American winning streak alive as he hunts for his first podium of the season.
