Women shine with five Portuguese in the quarters – Ferreira the last Portuguese standing among the men
Sintra, Portugal – September 5, 2025
Praia Grande lived another intense day of action at the Sintra Bodyboard Pro Fest 2025, with both the men’s and women’s divisions delivering high drama and standout performances.

Men’s Division: Costes, Soliveres and Iddouch unstoppable
The big names in the men’s draw confirmed their status, with Pierre Louis Costes once again proving why he is a world title contender. The Frenchman posted the highest score of the day (15.25) to edge out Portugal’s Francisco Ferreira in Round 4.
Armidé Soliveres, current world champion, eliminated Rodrigo Lopes and looks sharp heading into the quarter-finals, where he will face fellow Spaniard Lionel Medina.

Another favorite, Brahim Iddouch, advanced with style and will now face Portugal’s Miguel Ferreira, the last national representative still in the men’s competition. Ferreira defeated Italy’s Genesio Ludovisi to equal his best result in Sintra (5th place).
Tomorrow’s Quarter-finals are set:
- Heat 1: Brahim Iddouch (MAR) vs Miguel Ferreira (POR)
- Heat 2: Maxime Castillo (FRA) vs Badr Eddine Chajani (MAR)
- Heat 3: Lionel Medina (ESP) vs Armide Soliveres (ESP)
- Heat 4: Ethan Pérez (ESP) vs Pierre Louis Costes (FRA)
Women’s Division: Portuguese power in Praia Grande

The Portuguese campaign is looking strong in the women’s division, with five athletes through to the quarter-finals. National champion Luana Dourado impressed with an 8-point ride, while Mariana Silva, Joana Schenker, Teresa Padrela, and Filipa Broeiro all progressed.
The only Portuguese casualty was Alice Teotónio, eliminated after finishing third in her all-Portuguese heat behind Padrela and Broeiro.

Tomorrow’s Quarter-finals will showcase some exciting clashes:
- Heat 1: Luana Dourado (POR) vs Mariana Silva (POR)
- Heat 2: Joana Schenker (POR) vs Neymara Carvalho (BRA)
- Heat 3: Namika Yamashita (JPN) vs Filipa Broeiro (POR)
- Heat 4: Teresa Padrela (POR) vs Sara Abiko (JPN)
Beyond the waves
Alongside the world-class competition, Praia Grande is also the stage for initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Sintra, main sponsor of this 29-year-old event. These include sculptures created from beach waste, the “Urban Water Cycle” exhibition, and the “Sintra Glass + Glass” recycling campaign.

Saturday will bring even more activities for the public, such as the open “Boogie Chicks” bodyboard class and a mega fitness session supported by People Family Club, 100% Fitclub, Gimnoanima, and Holme Place.
