IBC WORLD TOUR from 2020 to 2025
Introduction
At IBC, we want to share our journey and the goals we’ve achieved since 2020, the year this association was founded. We’ll be sharing the story year by year through different updates, highlighting the events, the champions in all categories, and of course, the crowning of the world champions.
IBC WORLD TOUR 2020
In 2020, the IBC International Bodyboarding Corporation was created, with main goals like:
- Promoting bodyboarding as an inclusive and accessible sport
- Encouraging respect for the marine and coastal environment
- Supporting the development and recognition of bodyboarding
- Setting standards for bodyboarding practice and competition
- Promoting equal opportunities and diversity
- Strengthening the global bodyboarding community
- Defending the interests of bodyboarders and the bodyboarding community
Unfortunately, during that year, the global COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from running the tour as we had hoped.
The only event that took place in 2020 was the Gran Canaria Frontón King World Cup. So, no world champions were crowned in different divisions that year.
GRAN CANARIA FRONTÓN KING 2020
When a wave has the power of the Frontón, not even a global pandemic can stop it. In 2020, the Gran Canaria Frontón King became the only sporting event held in Gran Canaria during the COVID-19 health emergency. A strict safety protocol and extreme health precautions made it possible. Athletes enjoyed the competition to the fullest after a whole year without events.
Gran Canaria positioned itself as one of the safest destinations on the planet, and its image went around the world.
