Day two of the Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival 2026 is officially in the books.
After several event check-ins, organizers gave the green light for the Dropknee Repechage to kick off at 9:00 AM local time.
While the swell dropped in size compared to yesterday, it was still game on for Round 2 (Repechage). The Dropknee Division riders got a second life today, fighting to stay in the hunt for the world title in one of the sport’s most beautiful yet challenging disciplines.
Round 2: Dropknee Division “Repechage”
In this two-heat round, the stakes were high: only the top two riders from each heat would punch their ticket to Round 3.
The standout performer of the day was undoubtedly David Valladares. The Spanish-Venezuelan dual-national put on a clinic, sticking a massive snap and showing exactly why he’s the reigning European Champion. There’s no question David is a heavy favorite for the world title this season. Chile’s own Felix Marín also put on a great show, finishing second just 0.10 points behind David to secure his spot in the next round.
In the second and final heat of the day, two local legends dominated. Jonathan Chaparro took first place, followed closely by fellow countryman Leo Alar.
As sea conditions began to deteriorate, organizers decided to call it a day.

The next check-in for competitors is set for tomorrow, Sunday, May 3, at 7:00 AM local time.
