The ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro holds its first day of competition with champions in the water.
The Master and Professional divisions kicked off the competition today at Praia de Jacaraípe.
The first day of the ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro was a success. With three different divisions, and several athletes from all over the world, the competition has already put on a great show at Jacaraípe beach in Espírito Santo. The first rounds of the Professional, Master, and Amateur divisions kicked off the tournament.
The Master division opened up the day with two rounds—one at the beginning of the Professional division; and another afterwards. Athletes Catarina Sousa (POR), Maylla Venturin (BRA), Soraia Rocha (BRA), Joselani Amorim (BRA), Mariana Nogueira (BRA), Gutta Borges (BRA), Naara Carolyne (BRA) and Francis Aoto (BRA) won the first part of the competition. Nicolle Calheiros (BRA), Dadá Oliveira (BRA), Méia Cleto (BRA) and Karla Costa (HAW) won the second part.
The Professional division also showcased a high degree of talent in search of the title. Kirtys Montenegro (BRA), Elizangela Fragoso (BRA), Gutta Borges (BRA), Karla Costa (HAW) were victorious. Each advanced to the next stage of the competition.
Finishing off the day in the Amateurs category, athletes who won their heats were Aline Martins (BRA), Luana Dourado (POR) and Alice Teotonio Pereira (POR). Also advancing to the Semifinals were Talita Dias (BRA), Kamilla Video (BRA) and Flavia Nery (BRA).
The ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro is organized by the Instituto Neymara Carvalho and the IBC World Tour. The event was sponsored by ArcelorMittal (master sponsor), the Government of the State of Espírito Santo through the Capixaba Sports Incentive Law, and the Municipality of Serra, in addition to the support of Grupo Coroa .
