Wednesday, February 11, Agadir, Morocco.
After 6 intense days of competition, the first stop of the IBC World Tour wrapped up at the beautiful Anza Beach in Agadir, Morocco.
The swell conditions today were the best of the entire event. We saw some absolute elite-level bodyboarding as the world’s best fought for the season’s first title. The only downside was a bit of fog that made visibility tricky at times, but it didn’t stop the show—the vibes and the action were still epic.
The final day featured the Quarters, Semis, and the Grand Final, featuring the top 8 athletes who survived the earlier rounds in Morocco.

QUARTERFINALS
Four nail-biting, man-on-man heats lasting 30 minutes each. The final 8 went all out to secure the first podium spots of the year.
It was a clash of titans between French-Spaniard Amaury Lavernhe and Brazil’s Gabriel Braga. Amaury dominated most of the heat with two solid scores, but Gabriel played it smart, holding onto priority until the final minutes. He nailed a massive backflip to steal a spot in the semis, ending Amaury’s incredible run.
Chajri Badr Eddine vs. Eder Luciano: A battle between two guys who have been rock solid all week. Local hero Chajri Badr Eddine took the win, sticking a clean backflip for a 7.15. The Moroccan continues to prove he’s one of the most dangerous names on tour. Brazil’s Eder Luciano bows out with a well-deserved 5th place finish.

The third matchup was the closest of the day. It was an absolute thriller decided by mere decimals. Peru’s Cristopher Bayona put on a clinic, catching one of the best waves of the day—a huge backflip followed by a reverse that earned him a 9.25 (16.15 total). However, he was up against 2x World Champ Pierre Louis Costes. The Frenchman linked two heavy combos to advance with a total of 16.5.
The final heat of the quarters was one of the most anticipated: a battle of world champions between Spain’s Armide Soliveres and South Africa’s Tristan Roberts. It was another brutal heat where a podium spot was decided by less than a point. Tristan Roberts took the win with a 14.25 total, narrowly beating Armide Soliveres (13.4), who left the water to a huge round of applause.

SEMIFINALS
As the conditions pumped, the world’s best bodyboarding only got better. All four riders had secured a podium spot, but everyone had their eyes on the final.

The first semi featured Gabriel Braga and Chajri Badr Eddine, both of whom had a perfect event leading up to this. These guys are so talented it’s always a toss-up, but Chajri clinched his spot in the final with a 14-point total. The beach at Anza turned into a straight-up party—friends and fans carried him off on their shoulders as he celebrated his first-ever IBC World Tour final. Gabriel Braga finishes in 3rd at one of his favorite events.

Chajri Badr Eddine: “I’m stoked to make my first IBC World Tour final. It’s a dream come true. Huge thanks to everyone who backed me.”

The second semi was a legendary showdown: Pierre Louis Costes vs. Tristan Roberts. This was easily the heat of the event. PLC was on fire, stringing together two incredible waves for a 16.75—the highest total of the day. With one minute left, Tristan needed a miracle: a 9.16. A massive set appeared, Tristan used his priority and went full send. He hit the lip with everything he had, pulling off the only air reverse of the entire event. The judges were unanimous, dropping a perfect 10 that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

THE FINAL
Chajri Badr Eddine (Morocco) vs. Tristan Roberts (South Africa)

Two warriors who took down the best in the world to get here. It was a high-stakes battle, with both riders throwing down their best maneuvers on the Anza right-handers.
In the end, the South African dominated, taking the first title of the year with a 15.5 total, stacking up massive backflips and rolls. The Moroccan took a well-earned 2nd place—his best result on tour so far—proving that Moroccan riders are a force to be reckoned with.
