September 20, 2025 – The ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro 2025, presented by Extrabom, came to an end this Saturday at Solemar Beach, in Jacaraípe, Serra (Espírito Santo, Brazil), with emotions running high, tears, joy, and historic achievements.
Brazilian rider Luna Hardman, 19, claimed her first-ever victory in a World Tour event in the Professional division, winning the season’s final stage. At the same time, Joselani Amorim, 52, from Rio Grande do Sul, secured her first World Master Championship title. In the Pro Junior, the crown went to Portugal thanks to Alice Teotônio’s victory.

This Wahine edition marked the first time that World Titles were decided in Brazil in three divisions: Professional, Master, and Pro Junior. The Master and Junior crowns were exclusively assigned at this event, making Amorim and Teotônio both world and event champions. In the Professional, which counted four stages throughout the season, the overall World Champion was Alexandra Rinder (Canary Islands, competing for Austria), who clinched her third crown earlier in the week during the quarterfinals. Japan’s Namika Yamashita finished runner-up.
Hardman, last year’s Pro Junior Champion and Professional runner-up, returned to competition after shoulder surgery and was overcome with emotion as she was carried from the water by fellow Brazilian Bianca Simões and World Champion Rinder. Her mother, Neymara Carvalho—five-time World Champion, event organizer, and 2022 Wahine champion—joined her in a tearful embrace. They both stood on the podium together in a unique moment for the Tour, with Neymara finishing third.
“I’m so, so happy. This is a dream come true. Coming back strong after surgery, surfing light and happy—it feels like the start of many more wins,” said Luna.
Neymara, equally emotional, praised her daughter’s resilience:
“As a mother and an athlete, I couldn’t be prouder. I created a champion. She told me she would win, and I didn’t quite believe it, but she proved it with her strength and focus.”

In the Master final, Amorim defeated local athlete Maylla Venturin with 10.25 points against 9.50. She then returned to the water for the Professional final against Luna, completing four heats in a single day and leaving the Wahine as Master World Champion and Professional event runner-up.
“I’ve been competing since I was 14, and now at 52 I’m living my biggest dream,” said Amorim. “I dedicate this to my family, my state of Rio Grande do Sul, and especially Neymara, who convinced me to come. Without her call, I wouldn’t be here today as World Champion.”

In the Pro Junior final, Portugal celebrated a national showdown between Alice Teotônio and Luana Dourado. Teotônio scored 14.50 to 13.50 to claim her first world crown, while Luana finished runner-up for the second straight year despite being one of the event’s highlights, recording the only two perfect 10-point rides of the competition.

The closing day also featured special semifinals packed with drama, and concluded with the “Mothers & Daughters” expression session, a Wahine exclusive, celebrating generations of female bodyboarders sharing the waves.
Over ten days of competition, the Wahine gathered athletes from ten nations (Brazil, Austria, Chile, Spain, USA, France, Japan, Morocco, Peru, and Portugal) and distributed US$ 45,000 in prize money.
