IBC WORLD TOUR HISTORY / 2022

Finally, in 2022, the IBC World Tour was able to run smoothly again after almost being on hold for a few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s worth noting that for the first time, the global circuit included the Junior Women category. Plus, a record was broken with 15 events held in one year—pretty amazing!

Here’s a quick recap of what went down during this fantastic year for the world of bodyboarding.

MARCH 2022

LURIN PRO (PERU)

World Junior Championship held on March 11-13 in Lima, Peru. Spectators got to enjoy a great show from our new generation at Playa San Pedro.

APRIL AND MAY 2022

ARICA CULTURA BODYBOARD 2022 (Chile)

In April, the first Men Division event took place in Chile. Once again, the tour returned to one of the most powerful and dangerous waves in the world—Flopos, Ex Isla Alacrán in Arica, always delivers a spectacular show.

Men Division Champion: Amaury Lavernhe (Reunion Island)
Incredible achievement: Amaury scored a perfect 20 points in the final—the maximum possible in competition—making a historic performance in our sport.

MAY 2022

ERIZOS IQUIQUE BODYBOARD PRO 2022 (Chile)

For the first time, Iquique’s Ballavista Beach hosted the world tour, with La Punta 2 wave, known for its tubes and ramps, providing an epic spectacle.

ANTOFAGASTA BODYBOARD FESTIVAL 2022 (Chile)

The best beach break on the circuit returned to the stunning Itacoatiara Beach for another exciting year.

ARCELORMITTAL WAHINE BODYBOARD PRO 2022 (Brazil)

For the first time in the history of the world bodyboarding tour, an all-female event was held, featuring all divisions. Plus, it was the first time a Women’s Master World Champion was crowned.

VISIT MALDIVES PRO 2022

For the first time ever, a world bodyboard event was held in Asia. The Maldives hosted its first edition, showing the world its huge potential.

Hawaiian legend Dave Hubbard made history by winning in two different divisions during this inaugural event.

GRAN CANARIA FRONTÓN KING 2022 (Spain)

The final event of the IBC circuit decided the world titles in the Men and Junior Men divisions. It lived up to the hype on one of the best waves in the world for our sport, delivering tons of action and tension in this edition.
