Wednesday, June 18, Playa Cavancha, Iquique, Chile.
Due to a lack of waves for the competition, a Master Class in bodyboarding took place today at La Cavancha Beach, near the lighthouse.
It’s really important for the IBC to develop various social activities, so today, alongside the Iquique Bodyboard Pro, the Arturo Prat Bodyboard Club, and some of the best riders on the planet, we held an introductory bodyboarding clinic.
This event was a huge success, with over 40 young people getting to enjoy a unique experience, hanging out with many of the top riders in the world, and, of course, being guided by the amazing professionals from the Arturo Prat surf and bodyboard school. The warm-up for these kids was super fun and playful, where, in addition to learning the basics of bodyboarding, they played different games that kept big smiles on their faces and motivated them throughout the session.
Along with local stars like Joaquín Soto, Paloma Freyggan, and Constanza Soto, we also had the current world champions, Maira Viana and Armide Soliveres, join us. Other world champions like Tristan Roberts, Uri Valadao, and Piere Louis Costes were also part of this great moment, along with big international names like Maira Venturi, Brahim Iddouch, Lionel Medina, Begoña Martínez, Ethan Capdeville, Chajri Badr Eddine, Cristhoper Bayona, Socrates Santana, and Joel Rodrigues, among others.
Without a doubt, this was a very special and emotional moment for these young folks. We hope some of them get hooked on bodyboarding and who knows, maybe one day we’ll see them in an IBC competition. What’s clear is they had an unforgettable day, filled with experiences from this incredible sport.
