We’re totally stoked to introduce you to this young bodyboarding superstar!
This 17-year-old Portuguese athlete lives in Cascais and was definitely one of the biggest breakouts of 2025.
She’s a super upbeat and driven rider, and she’s making it crystal clear that she’s going to be one of the athletes shaping the future of women’s bodyboarding.

Her favorite move is the ‘roll,’ and she’s been hitting the waves on a bodyboard for six years now.
Check out this exclusive interview with the current Junior Women Division World Champion:
ALICE TEOTONIO

- What was your childhood like in Portugal?
Since I was a baby I always went a lot to the beach, my 2 older brothers used to do surf and that’s when I started to have a bigger connection to the sea.
when I was 7 years old I started to do artistic roller skating and one day I broke my foot and went to a week of bodyboarding to get better, and that was when I fell in love with bodyboarding.
When I was 14 years old I had to choose between the artistic roller skating and the bodyboarding, of course I chose bodyboard.

- What did it mean to you to become World Champion at the Ancelormittal Wahine Pro in Brazil?
It was something that I wanted a lot a long time ago so I trained a lot and I did 5th place 2 times in a row and at the 3rd time i did it and I could say that it was the best day of my life.

- What are your thoughts on IBC and Ancelormittal Wahine adding a Women’s Junior category to the tour?
Accelormital Wahine IBC event is very special for me. It was the first time I competed Inteenationally and it is a full woman’s event. What we live during this event is amazing. The friendship connections we make, the support everyone is giving to each other, having the opportunity to live and see how women with disabilities surpass their limits is very inspiring. It is a very special place and moment for me each time I go. Bring junior world cham was something that I wanted a lot a long time ago so I trained a lot. I sacrifice my social and family life with focus on my ambition. The sensation was incredible and having and feeling the support from my friends and the crowd at the beach was unique! I will keep it in my heart forever!

- IBC thinks it’s super important for athletes to develop not just as sports pros, but to focus even more on their academic results. What are your future plans, both for school/work and for sports?
I’m in my last year of high school and next year I want to go to the university but I am still deciding what I will do in University. I manage my time between studies and BB practice so that I can keep up with school. I am very lucky I have support from teachers, family and friends because it is not very easy to manage and it is very demanding. For sports I want to continue bodyboarding forever because it’s very healthy not just physically but psychology to. It is my passion and is contributing to my growth as a person, everyday, every competition I always learn.

- Who are the people who have helped you get to your current level?
The people who have helped me to get to this level were, of course Catarina Sousa, my coach, all the boogie chicks and aqua carca people, my sponsors (bodyboard center, shore cavs, união de freguesias de carcavelos e parede and câmara municipal de cascais), my family and friends, and everyone who give me motivation every day. My mum is almost always at competitions and it’s very comforting to have her there. I have a mental coach who helps me a lot and also a physical training coach.

- Who are your bodyboarding idols?
I would say Sari Ohara, Catarina Sousa, Luna Hardman and Neymara Carvalho, Tristan Roberts and Pierre Louis Costes.

- If you could add one event to the Women’s tour, what wave would you do it at?
Probably Hawai, Australia and I would love to have an event at cascais boogie chicks event in Carcavelos (Portugal)

- Do you have any other hobbies?
I used to have roller skating, and now I only have school and hanging out with my friends
- What are your biggest dreams?
Be World champion of women division, travel the world and keep bodyboarding.
