Antofagasta, Chile – Sunday, May 10, 2026
The Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival (ABF) just wrapped up a historic run at “La Nilda.” With flawless conditions, zero wind, and super clean sets, the IBC World Tour crowned its newest kings at one of the most grueling stops on the pro circuit.

TRISTAN ROBERTS DOMINATES MEN’S PRIME SERIES
The Men’s Prime Series was a total showdown, featuring high-stakes, 35-minute man-on-man heats.
In the semis, South Africa’s Tristan Roberts (currently ranked #1) punched his ticket to the final after taking down French youngster Ethan Capdeville. Roberts posted the highest total of the day, sticking a massive backflip (8.00) and a radical inverted air (8.50). Meanwhile, Chilean local Moisés Silva sent the home crowd into a frenzy, knocking out two-time World Champ Amaury Lavernhe in a nail-biting heat packed with technical maneuvers.
In the grand final, Tristan Roberts proved exactly why he was the favorite. Dropping a solid 15.25 combined score—including a clutch 8.25 backflip—Roberts locked in the ABF 2026 title. This win gives him a perfect season so far, with back-to-back first-place finishes in Morocco and Chile. Silva fought until the very last second, catching a wave right as the buzzer sounded to secure a historic second-place finish for Chile.

JERICCO ROSERO: MAKING HISTORY FOR ECUADOR IN DROPKNEE
The Dropknee (DK) division saw a legendary moment that completely rewrites the bodyboarding history books.
After intense semifinals where Hawaii’s Sammy Morretino beat local favorite Leo Alar, and Ecuador’s Jericco Roserotook down Amaury Lavernhe, the stage was set for a classic: the veteran experience of 5-time World Champ Morretino versus the raw hunger of the Galapagos rider.
Rosero shut it down with the “wave of the day”—dropping into a heavy, vertical barrel, coming out with insane speed, and smashing a brutal snap. The judges gave him a unanimous 10, making Jericco Rosero the first-ever Bodyboard World Champion in Ecuador’s history.

“I thank God for this opportunity. For the first time, Ecuador has a world champion,” an emotional Rosero said after the win. “I felt an incredible energy when I got that 10. I’m dedicating this to my mom and my grandma on Mother’s Day; thank you for the values you taught me. We’re taking the cup home to Galapagos!”
