ABOUT US
What is the International Boarding Comittee (IBC) ?
The International Bodyboarding Committee (IBC) is a non-profit organization that represents and promotes bodyboarding across the world, from grassroots development to professional world tour events.
History:
Originally registered in Chile on February 11, 2020, as a non-profit organization, the International Bodyboarding Committee (IBC) established its roots in the Chilean city of Antofagasta. Recognized under Chilean law as a sports corporation, the IBC laid the groundwork for uniting the global bodyboarding community.
In 2024, the IBC relocated its headquarters to the Canary Islands, Spain, where it is now officially registered as a non-profit sports association. This strategic move reflects our commitment to expanding the reach and impact of bodyboarding across Europe and beyond.
The IBC unites all riders (professional and amateur), national and regional associations, clubs, bodyboarding schools, coaching groups, photographers, filmmakers, event organizers, technical staff, and fans of bodyboarding. Through social upliftment initiatives centered around bodyboarding, the IBC aims to foster a global community that thrives on the joy of wave riding.
Mission:
Our primary goal is to develop and support bodyboarding worldwide, empowering regional areas to cultivate and grow the sport. Over the past years, the IBC has successfully implemented initiatives in countries such as Chile, Brazil, Peru, Portugal, Spain, the Canary Islands, Maldives, Morocco, and South Africa, utilizing bodyboarding as a tool for social upliftment and positive change. This effort is underpinned by an academically proven framework that connects more people to the sport, offering them opportunities for personal and community growth.
