From May 14th to 26th, the world’s best athletes will bring the Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival 2024 to life at Lllacolén Beach. With over 12 years of history, it’s become one of the most important sporting events in northern Chile and one of the most anticipated stops on the world tour, thanks to the variety of categories, points, and prize money up for grabs.
At ABFChile 2024, participants can compete in 5 categories: Open Pro Men, Open Pro Women, Junior Men, Junior Women, and Dropknee. The event will award $90,000 in prize money, making it the highest-paying stop on the circuit and offering the most points for the world ranking.

Prize Money: $20,000 – 1500 Points
DROP KNEE MEN DIVISION
Prize Money: $13,000 – 2,000 Points
PRO JUNIOR MEN DIVISION
Prize Money: $10,000 – 2,000 Points
PRO JUNIOR WOMEN DIVISION
Prize Money: $7,000 – 2,000 Points
This significant event for the city is produced by Club Budeo, presented by Escondida BHP and SQM, and sponsored by Colbún and Antofagasta Minerals. Sercotec also makes possible the Feria de Turismo e Innovación Social FETURIS, which will be present during the last 4 days of the event and will include performances by national artists Chystemc and Zaturno ex Tiro de Gracia.
But it’s not all about sports – the 13-day championship will also engage the community in various activities promoting ecology, tourism, culture, and social awareness about coastal care and appreciation. Activities like beach clean-ups and recycling will be held regularly.
Arturo Soto, director of the global event, emphasizes that “The Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival is the most important date for the discipline worldwide, but with it, we don’t just want to highlight the sporting aspect, but also promote sports as a tool for social change to provide life goals for young people in our region, country, and the world.
