Taghazout, Morocco – 22 February – The 2024 Taghazout Bay World Bodyboard Championship entered its third day with a flurry of excitement as competitors took to the waves for another thrilling round of action. With the focus on the Women’s division, featuring rounds 3 and 4, along with the Junior Men’s division with round 3 and quarter-finals, spectators were treated to a showcase of talent against the breathtaking backdrop of Taghazout’s coastline.
Highlight day 2
In the Women’s division, standout performances left audiences in awe. Namika Yamashita from Japan stole the spotlight with an extraordinary display, securing the highest score of the day with an impressive 15.65 points. Portugal’s Joana Schenker impressed with her solid performance, earning a commendable 14.35 points. Meanwhile, Mariana Viana from Brazil showcased her talent, securing her position at the top with a score of 13.75 points. Sari Ohara from Japan also delivered a noteworthy performance, earning 13.5 points.
In the Junior Men’s division, local talent Abdi Mohammed from Morocco emerged as a crowd favorite with an amazing heat, earning an outstanding 18 points. Alexander Montes from the Canary Islands demonstrated his prowess with a commendable score of 15.25 points.
Riders had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in favorable conditions, including good swell of up to 4ft sets and light winds, contributing to the electrifying atmosphere of the competition.
