IBC WORLD TOUR 2024 WRAP-UP

IBC WORLD TOUR 2024 WRAP-UP

And that’s a wrap on the IBC World Tour 2024! The IBC team wants to give a HUGE shoutout to everyone—people, media, and organizations—who made this possible with their support.

We’re super stoked to have wrapped up our third year, bringing you an exciting and complete tour that’s been an awesome platform to promote our sport and give the best athletes in the world a chance to shine in their divisions. Plus, we’ve been able to exchange cultures and plant important seeds in every country we visited.

We’re incredibly grateful to all the athletes who joined us on this adventure, as well as all the promoters and their teams around the globe. Without them, none of this would have been possible. We know how much effort it takes, and we’ve loved working together to achieve our goals.

We can’t forget the fans who always show up at our events and everyone who lives and breathes Bodyboard with the same passion as those of us competing. Thank you so much for your support!

Congrats to everyone who made it to the TOP in their divisions, and to those who came close with their hard work!

A big THANK YOU to our sponsors and partners for believing in each event and supporting this radical sport.

IBC WORLD TOUR 2024 SUMMARY

  • Thagazout Bay World Bodyboard Pro

– The 2024 Tour kicked off in Agadir, Morocco, where we held a world Bodyboard event for the first time. With great wave conditions at two different spots and an impressive turnout of local athletes, the Thagazout Bay World Bodyboard Pro was a huge success and set the stage for future world champions.

  • Arcelormittal Wahine Bodyboard Pro

– In April, we headed back to Espírito Santo, Brazil, for the 3rd edition of the Arcelormittal Wahine Bodyboard Pro, a super important event for the women’s divisions since it’s the only women-exclusive event on the World Tour. This is where Brazilian Mariana Nogueira was crowned Master Women Champion for the third consecutive time in that category.

MARIANA NOGUEIRA

In May, we headed back to Chile, which is one of the Latin powerhouses in our sport and a must-visit for any Bodyboard fan, thanks to its powerful waves and the high level of its athletes.

  • Iquique Bodyboard Pro

– This year, we had two events in the country: the Iquique Bodyboard Pro, which was the second stop on the world tour, and as always, it delivered a fantastic event with waves perfect for Bodyboarding at the famous Punta Dos, along with top-notch infrastructure and organization.

  • Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival

– Right after the event in Iquique, we moved on to the 12th edition of the Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival at La Cúpula, which is definitely a key stop on the tour since it’s the only one where all divisions compete together. Plus, this year it crowned two world titles: DropKnee and Junior Women Division.

  • Itacoatiara Pro

– To wrap up the South American leg, we returned to Brazil for another classic on the World Tour, the only exclusive MEN event held every year at ITACOATIARA Beach in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro. The Itacoatiara Pro has become a must-stop for those competing in the Men’s category, offering important points and always delivering great waves, both lefts and rights, with dream ramps, all surrounded by stunning nature, awesome people, delicious food, and perfect weather.

  • Visit Maldives Pro

– In August, IBC made its way to the only world tour event held on the Asian continent: the Visit Maldives Pro, on Malé Island, the capital of the Maldives. This event gets better every year and is solidifying its reputation as the most exotic of them all, showcasing the high level of local talent and the various surfing options the Maldives has to offer. It also provides a really interesting cultural exchange for all attendees and Bodyboard fans.

  • Sintra Bodyboard Pro Festival

– September rolled in, and the IBC headed to Europe. It could only be the Sintra Bodyboard Pro Festival in Praia Grande, Portugal, the longest-running event on the world tour. This is where the world title in the Women’s Division was decided in a nail-biting final between Japan’s Sari Ohhara and Brazil’s Maira Viana, who snagged her first title after an amazing year competing against one of the toughest riders on the tour. There was also a ton of excitement around the Men’s World Title race since the disqualifications of Moises Silva and Gabriel Braga took away their shot at being world champs. Pierre Louis Costes managed to take the title to the last event of the year by becoming the Sintra Pro 2024 Champion.

  • Gran Canaria Frontón King

– To wrap things up in style, as is tradition, October brought the final event of the IBC World Tour, the Gran Canaria Frontón King in the Canary Islands, Spain. It’s one of the most powerful waves on the planet for bodyboarding. Once again, “the beast,” as they call the Frontón, didn’t disappoint, delivering an incredible bodyboarding show. The excitement was real, with Armide Soliveres becoming the first-ever athlete from the Canary Islands and Spain to be crowned World Champion in the Men’s Division. And fellow Canarian Alexander Montes pulled off a masterful feat, winning the event and becoming the World Champion in the Junior Men’s Division. It was definitely a spectacular tour finale, filled with emotional and unforgettable moments.

It’s been a true pleasure for the IBC World Tour team to bring you this third year of professional bodyboarding. We’ll see you in 2025 for another exciting year of our beloved sport!

ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU ALL!
