Successful first days of competition at the 2024 TAGHAZOUT BAY WORLD BODYBOARD CHAMPIONSHIP in Morocco.

Successful first days of competition at the 2024 TAGHAZOUT BAY WORLD BODYBOARD CHAMPIONSHIP in Morocco.

Morocco, February 21, 2024

February 20 marked the exciting start of the Men, Women and Juniors professional division for the International Bodyboarding Corporation (IBC) World Bodyboarding Tour with the first day of the TAGHAZOUT BAY WORLD BODYBOARD CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 in Agadir-Morocco

The first day of competition held on Anza Beach was focused on the Men’s Division, carrying out rounds 1 and 2 where local talent stood out.

Ghazi Achraf, Boufouchk Ilias and Benslimane Adnane showed an outstanding performance, achieving a total of 16, 13.85 and 13.15 points respectively. These results reflect the high competitive level of the locals, who have an impressive track record on the national tour of the Moroccan Surf and Bodyboard Federation.

After 7 hours of competition, the first day concluded in excellent conditions that proved  the potential of the wave.

Today, on the second day of competition, the Women and Junior divisions took the stage, with a bit smaller but very clean conditions and no wind at all, which persisted for almost the entire day.

Both the women and the juniors offered very good performances, with powerful maneuvers very well executed.

We highlight the performance of the local junior Bensed Benaissa and the Canarian Alexander Montes, with 13.35 and 12.5 points respectively.

On the Women´s side, we saw a very good performance of the Frenchwoman Lisa Labadie, who obtained 14.10 points in the first heat of the day with two combos of classic maneuvers cleanly executed, as well as the Australian National Champion: Ebony Schell, debuting in the World Tour with an outstanding performance that led her to win her first heat. In the following rounds Hakura Yasumi and Yuka Nishimurala, 2 of the 5 Japanese women competitors were surfing very strong and consistently.

We would like to stand out for the exceptional hospitality and kindness of the people of Anza, Agadir, Morocco, as well as the promoters, athletes, and local crew. Your warm welcome has contributed enormously to the development of this event.

We encourage all followers to stay tuned for updates on the next days of competition, since tomorrow, Thursday, February 22, we will have the third day of the event with the Women and Junior Men divisions.

Check-in is scheduled for 8:00 am at Anza Beach.
