ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro could have an unprecedented mother-and-daughter final this Saturday (20) in Serra, Brazil

September 2025 – The ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro, presented by Extrabom, will crown its champions this Saturday (20) at Solemar Beach, in Jacaraípe, Serra (ES). The final stage of the 2025 Women’s World Tour promises great balance in the closing battles of the Professional, Pro Junior and Master divisions. And the Professional category may enter history with a unique scenario: a final between mother and daughter. Local stars Neymara Carvalho (49) and Luna Hardman (19) are both through to the semifinals and could face each other in the title match.

Neymara will meet Joselani Amorim from Rio Grande do Sul in one semi, while Luna will face Portugal’s Filipa Broeiro in the other. The winners advance to the final, while the defeated finish in 3rd place. With mother and daughter already on the podium, this will be the first time in World Tour history that such a result is achieved. Brazil also has a guaranteed finalist, with three of the four semifinalists representing the country.

Champion of the first edition of the Wahine in 2022, Neymara is aiming for another final and the chance to claim her second Wahine title. Luna, Pro Junior champion in 2024 and runner-up in the Professional, is chasing her first major crown. Filipa and Joselani are also in the running for their maiden Wahine titles – Joselani having eliminated reigning world champion Maíra Viana in the quarterfinals. In 2024, the Professional division was won by Japan’s Sari Ohhara, who also claimed the trophy in 2023.

“End of the championship here in Jacaraípe with great waves. My goal was to reach the podium, and I did it together with Luna. Having my daughter as an opponent is a new experience, and it could now turn into a historic final,” said Neymara, five-time world champion.

“I think it’s so cool to compete against my mom. She is an example for all the girls around the world. I feel confident heading into this semifinal, in an event that is really special to me,” said Luna, who is making her first appearance after recovering from shoulder surgery.

Portugal’s Filipa also celebrated her semifinal spot: “You have to believe until the very end. I’m really happy to be on the podium and now I’m going all in for the next heat.”

The same spirit was shared by Joselani: “I’m so happy to be here. I’ll keep going with a lot of positivity,” said the athlete, who is looking for her first Wahine final.

Pro Junior and Master world champions to be decided

In addition to the Wahine 2025 event winners, the competition will also define the World Champions in the Pro Junior and Master divisions – the latter exclusive to the Wahine.

The Professional world title has already been secured by Alexandra Rinder, from the Canary Islands competing for Austria, who clinched her third career crown on Wednesday (17) by advancing through the quarterfinals. Japan’s Namika Yamashita finished runner-up.

On Saturday (20), the program features:

  • Professional semifinals and final
  • Master semifinal and final
  • Pro Junior final

Over 10 days of competition, the Wahine 2025 gathered athletes from 10 countries: Brazil, Austria, Chile, Spain, United States, France, Japan, Morocco, Peru and Portugal. The total prize purse is USD 45,000 (approx. BRL 240,000).
