JUNIOR MEN / RISING SERIES

ROUND 1 (Non-elimination)

At 9:00 AM, Round 1 kicked off! This round is non-elimination, so those who don’t qualify will get another shot in Round 2 of the repechage. The waves were perfect for the start of the event, with fun conditions that allowed the young competitors to showcase their talent.

Let’s give a shoutout to the locals, with a whopping 8 athletes from Morocco making it straight to round 3! Moumo Hamza scored the highest for his country with a total of 13.25 points. Big congrats also to Moutaouakil Adam, Tchatou Rachid, Tarfaoui Souhail, Elgharbaoui Younes, Izikki Youssef, Agouzul Abdelkarim, and Laabi Sami.

The top score of this round went to South African athlete John Krige, who racked up 14.8 points with his two waves, making him one of the favorites.

Among the internationals, the French guys Victor Roux and Louka Zaninotto, Italian Damiano Bonazzi, Portuguese Vicente Campos, and Spanish Mauro Quesada all advanced smoothly as the top finishers in their heats.

ROUND 2 (Repêchage)

The organizers decided to keep going with round 2 today, featuring repêchage heats where athletes got a second chance to stay in the competition.

In this round, the standout performers were Peruvian Luciano Alba, Spanish Yahel Benítez, and French Louis Fery and Mael Martínez.

Today wrapped up with a great show, given the conditions the ocean provided. Tomorrow, check-in is at 8:30 AM to keep the action rolling from Taghazout, Morocco. The plan is to kick off early with Round 3 of the Junior Men Rising Series.

Don’t forget, you can catch the event live and check out all the content on the various social media platforms and the official IBC World Tour website!
