Antofagasta, Chile – May 5, 2026
EPIC VIBES AND HUGE SCORES AT “LA NILDA”
The second stop of the IBC World Tour is officially heating up. Day 4 brought some seriously massive swell, setting the stage for the Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival (ABF) Main Event. Today, the world’s Top 16 began their hunt for the title in Chilean waters, and they did not disappoint.

ROUND 2: THE FIGHT FOR THE TOP 32
The action kicked off at 7:15 AM with Round 2 of the Men Prime Series. Local heroes and international riders went head-to-head, fighting for those final spots to face the elite in the main bracket.
Brazil’s Sergio Machado owned the round, dropping a 13.75 total thanks to some super technical air rollos. Meanwhile, Peru’s young guns proved the next generation is here to stay: Junior #1 Lucciano Campos and teammate Fabio Saavedra—who bagged a massive 8.25 on a deep right-hand barrel—both secured their spots on the podium hunt.
The Chilean crew also made some noise. Local wildcard Matías Díaz stayed on fire, while young prodigy Cristóbal Tobar and veteran Moisés Silva moved on to the Main Event, sending the crowd at “La Nilda” into a frenzy. Shoutouts to Mexico’s Kalani Favela and France’s Hugo Naude for locking in their spots with some rock-solid performances.

MAIN EVENT: THE WORLD’S BEST SHOW OUT
Once the top seeds hit the water for Round 3 (non-elimination), the level went through the roof. Everyone was gunning for that direct ticket to Round 5 to skip the redemption heats.
• Armide Soliveres Sets the Bar: The Spaniard put on the performance of the event so far. With an 8-point inverted air and a monster backflip that scored a 9.25, the Canary Islands native posted a mind-blowing 17.25 total, the highest of the comp.

• Tristan Roberts and the Perfect Wave: The South African powerhouse wasn’t holding back. He pulled off the move of the day—a super technical air reverse that the judges rewarded with a 9.50 (the highest single wave score of the event). He finished his heat with a strong 15.50.

• Legends Control the Lineup: The heavyweights held their ground. Two-time World Champ Amaury Lavernhe advanced comfortably with 15 points, keeping his dream of a double world title alive. French icon Pierre-Louis Costes and Morocco’s Brahim Iddouch also cruised through their heats with their signature style.
Special mention goes to Morocco’s Badr Eddine Chajri, who proved his breakout season last year was no fluke by dropping a 14-point total, and Chile’s own Cristóbal Tobar, who grabbed his third straight heat win against the world’s best.

NEXT CALL
After a heart-pounding day, the IBC World Tour and ABF crew have set the next check-in for tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6, at 6:45 AM local time. With the conditions at “La Nilda” staying heavy, expect more air-game madness on the Antofagasta coast.
