Gran Canaria Fronton King 2026: The Ultimate Crowning at "The Beast" The final showdown of the IBC World Tour returns to the most powerful and feared wave on the planet: El Frontón. From October 16th to 31st, 2026, the global bodyboarding community will focus its eyes on Gáldar, Gran Canaria, as the world's elite riders battle for glory in the ultimate proving ground. This year's Gran Canaria Fronton King is set to make history once again, officially crowning the 2026 IBC World Champions in both the Men and Junior Men categories. Expect massive swells, radical aerials, and heavy barrels as the top-ranked athletes push the limits of the sport to claim the most prestigious title in bodyboarding. Welcome to the main event. Destination: Gáldar, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Arrival (Airport): Fly into Gran Canaria Airport (LPA). Gáldar is located in the northwest of the island, approximately a 45-minute drive from the airport. Accommodation: We highly recommend booking accommodation in Gáldar or neighboring northern towns (such as Agaete or Sardina del Norte) to stay close to the competition zone. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (the capital) is also a great option, located just 30 minutes away. Transportation: Renting a car is the most practical way to get around the island with your gear. Public transport (Global buses) is available, but having a vehicle gives you the freedom to chase freesurf waves around the island during lay days. Conditions & Gear: October in Gran Canaria offers excellent weather with air temperatures around 24°C–28°C (75°F–82°F). Water temperatures hover around 22°C (71°F). A 3/2mm or 2/2mm wetsuit is highly recommended. The Wave: El Frontón is an expert-only reef break. It breaks over a very shallow, sharp volcanic reef. Helmets and heavy-duty leashes are strongly advised.

To participate in the Gran Canaria Fronton King 2026, all competitors must adhere to the following IBC World Tour regulations: IBC Membership: All riders must have a valid and active 2026 IBC Tour membership. Event Registration: Competitors must complete their official online registration and pay the entry fee prior to the deadline through the official IBC portal. Mandatory Check-In: All registered athletes must attend the official on-site check-in and technical briefing on October 15th (location and time TBA). Failure to check in may result in losing your spot in the draw. Insurance: Comprehensive travel and sports medical insurance that covers competitive bodyboarding is mandatory for all international athletes. Conduct: Athletes must strictly follow the IBC Rulebook, demonstrating good sportsmanship and deep respect for the local environment and the Gáldar community.
