Out & About around Walker Bay

Fernkloof Nature Reserve, which lies in the Kleinrivier Mountains above Hermanus, has a
60km network of trails suitable for all levels of fitness. You’ll witness stunning views of the
area and possibly a few of the local wildlife to, so keep your eyes peeled for grey rhebok,
Cape grysbok, klipspringer, baboon, mongoose and dassies.

The Hermanus whale watching season is in full swing between the months of June and
November. The calm bays and coves of the Southern Coast, in particular Walker bay, offer
shelter to pods of whales that migrate from the icy waters of the Antarctic to calve, mate and
raise their young. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a close up view from the edge of the cliffs. A
unique experience in a n absolutely stunning setting.

The Hermanus Wine Route can be found along the Walker Bay Wine District’s famous R320
and meanders through the picturesque area known as the Hemel-en-Aarde Area. It is here
that fifteen wineries grow small volumes of premium quality wine in carefully and sustainably
managed vineyards. A great day out for those potential lay days.
