Morey Boogie La Salie Pro 2022 cancelled

It is with regret that the IBC announces the cancellation of the first French based Junior event, the Morey Boogie La Salie Pro 2022, which was scheduled to take place on 24th and 25th September 2022.

The event organisers were forced to cancel the event by local and national authorities due to the terrible wildfires which have impacted Southern Gironde and in particular the town of La Teste de Buch. The fires have been raging since July 12th and have subsequently brought about massive amounts of damage to the local infrastructure including local beach restaurants and access roads. The primary beach for the event, La Salie Nord, was also heavily impacted by the fires.

Surfing and activities were stopped for 15 days and then allowed to resume earlier in August with restrictive access measures in place. To date the fire is under control but not yet extinguished.

Rehabilitation work on the road and access to the beaches will take several months and for security reasons, especially for athletes, all events are now cancelled until such time as the infrastructure is back up and running as normal.

The event organisers wish to thank the Town Hall of Le Teste and all the event partners for supporting them during this time. Work is currently under way to re-organise and to continue with the development of bodyboarding in the region.

Due to the cancellation of the Morey Boogie La Salie Pro 2022, the Junior Women’s World Championship will now be decided at the Sintra Pro 2022 event taking place in September.
