We’re stoked to announce a new addition to the 2026 IBC calendar! We’ve officially added a new stop for the Junior Men’s Division right in Peru.
The Punta Negra Pro is hitting Lima, Peru, on August 3rd and 4th. This event is a massive opportunity for Peruvian athletes and competitors from neighboring countries. As a qualifying event, riders who put up a solid result can snag one of the 48 spots for the Grand Final at El Frontón King, happening this October in Spain.

- Event: PUNTA NEGRA PRO
- Location: Punta Negra, Lima, Peru
- Dates: August 3–4
- Division: Junior Men Rising Series / Qualifier
- Prize Money: $2,500
- Points: 500 points
The contest will go down in the Punta Negra district, about an hour’s drive from Lima. The area is loaded with places to stay right near the breaks, plus plenty of great (and affordable) local food.
The specific contest site will depend on the swell size and direction. Here’s the lineup of potential waves:
- Explosivos: A heavy, hollow beach-break left that needs a South swell.
- Chorri: Located in the same bay as Explosivos but handles more West in the swell; mostly rights, but has some lefts too.
- Punta Rocas: A classic point break dominated by rights (though there are some lefts). This spot can hold huge surf, reaching up to 12+ feet (4 meters) when it’s solid.
- Santa Rosa: A left-hand point break that shines with a big SW swell; it occasionally offers rights that can reach 15+ feet (5 meters).
- Huayco: The go-to backup for smaller days; mostly lefts with a few rights in the mix.
