Duranbah Beach, Gold Coast, Australia – Sunday, July 12, 2026

Finals day kicked off at 7:00 AM local time at Duranbah Beach, a key qualifier for the IBC World Tour Junior Men Rising Series. Even though the waves dropped in size compared to yesterday, conditions stayed super clean, giving these young Aussie up-and-comers the perfect canvas to show the world what they’ve got.

The day focused heavily on the Junior Men’s semifinals and finals the official division counting toward the IBC world rankings alongside the finals for the younger divisions: Cadets, Grommets, and Super Grommets.

JUNIOR MEN RISING SERIES

With all four semifinalists already locking down a podium spot on the Gold Coast and punching their tickets to the big finale at the Gran Canaria Frontón King this October, the energy shifted to a single question: which of these young chargers would walk away as the 2026 Future Pro’s Champion?

Semifinal 1: Archie Williams vs. Chase Thompson The first battle of the day featured two standout standouts from yesterday’s heats. After a super tight matchup, Chase Thompson took the win by linking together a few waves with solid, clean rolls. Williams wrapped up his run with a well deserved third-place finish.

Semifinal 2: Ossian Mackenzie vs. Bodi Hugin An absolute clash of titans pinned defending champ Ossian Mackenzie against the very young Bodi Hugin. Hugin brought his absolute A game to the water, dropping back to back maneuvers that left the reigning champ with no room to answer. Hugin dominated the heat to secure his spot in the finals, leaving Mackenzie to settle for third this time around though he still checked off his main goal of qualifying for Gran Canaria.

The Grand Final: Chase Thompson vs. Bodi Hugin Both riders went blow-for-blow until the final buzzer in a crazy close heat decided by a razor thin 0.36 margin. It was anyone’s game, but luck was on Bodi Hugin’s side. He snagged the best wave of the day a massive right hand roll that the judges rewarded with a 7 point score, sealing the victory.

Massive congrats to Bodi Hugin, your 2026 Future Pro’s Champion, and shoutout to all the finalists who secured their spots to battle for the world title in the Junior Men’s Division at the Frontón King!
