Day 3 of the 30th Sintra Bodyboard Festival, a key stop on the IBC World Tour holding Prime Series status for the Women and Rising Series status for the Men, wrapped up under sunny skies and small waves at Praia Grande. Even though the tiny surf forced the athletes to pull out all the stops and adapt their technical game, the event officially crowned the Top 12 in the Men’s Rising Series, who are now set to throw down in head-to-head man-on-man matchups.

Wrapping Up Round 3: The Top 24 Is Set

After a few morning check-ins, the action kicked off by clearing out the final two remaining heats from the repechage round:

• Heat 3: Brazil’s Isaias Ravyk spearheaded the heat, with young Peruvian Lucciano Campos punching his ticket right behind him.

• Heat 4: Junior World Champion Louka Zaninotto from France claimed the win, moving on alongside Spanish veteran Alex Sebastián.

Round 4: Strategic Battles to Reach the Round of 16

Round 4 pitted 24 riders against each other in 3-man heats, with the top two spots bagging a direct ticket to the Round of 16:

• Heat 1: France’s Ethan Capdeville cruised into first, while local breakout rider Rodrigo Lopes locked up second.

• Heat 2: Local boy Francisco Ferreira owned his home spot to take the top spot. Second place came down to a nail-biting tiebreaker between Morocco’s Chajr Badr Eddine and Venezuela’s Edwin Aldana, with Badr Eddine edging it out thanks to his higher single-wave score.

• Heat 3: Miguel Ferreira put on an adaptation clinic, stomping a solid 14.75 heat total. Former World Champ Uri Valadao from Brazil locked down second.

• Heat 4: Two-time World Champ Amaury Lavernhe stayed solid up front, with fellow Frenchman Irwin Cloarec hot on his heels.

• Heat 5: Defending Sintra champ and recent Maldives winner Pierre-Louis Costes kept his undefeated streak alive, topping Reunion Island’s Fabien Thazar.

• Heat 6: Brazilian veteran Eder Luciano flexed his experience to take first, while Spain’s Ethan Pérez locked in his spot just 0.75 points behind.

• Heat 7: Peruvian youngster Lucciano Campos pulled off a shocker by leading the heat with a strong 13.75 total, topping Moroccan veteran Brahim Iddouch.

• Heat 8: Spain’s Armide Soliveres dropped the performance of the day, throwing down the highest total of the contest so far (16.50 points) and the day’s highest single wave (8.50 points) with a squeaky-clean backflip. Reigning Junior World Champ Louka Zaninotto took second, cementing his spot among the pros.
