Joaquín Soto from Iquique remains unstoppable in the Erizos Iquique Bodyboard Pro 2022 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the event that is taking place on the La Punta 2 wave at Bellavista beach after eliminating three times in his heat world champion, Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard.
This Friday the direct elimination rounds began and Soto entered the cold waves of Iquique in the fourth heat where he had a difficult rival. However, the local revenue took advantage of his knowledge of the waves and the sector and with a score of 13.40 he beat his rival, who appeared as the favorite in the series.
“I am happy to get some good maneuvers and now we are going with everything to the quarterfinals. We are going to rest to go out with everything psyched up tomorrow, ”said Soto after winning his heat.
The man from Iquique had great support from the people who arrived early in the La Punta 2 sector and this Saturday he will have a new important challenge, since in the search for the semifinals he will face the current world champion, the South African Tristán Roberts.
Another one who continues steadily in the Erizos Iquique Bodyboard Pro 2022 is the current champion of the contest, Alan Muñoz, who with a score of 17.00 eliminated the Frenchman Maxime Castillo and settled in the quarterfinals where he will face the Brazilian Uri Valadao.
In the women’s category, the national representative Paloma Freyggang left everything in the waves of Iquique, but she could not face the Brazilian Isabela Souza and said goodbye to the competition.
While, in junior, the one born in El Tabo, Benjamín Fuentes, stood up for the Chilean delegation and is the only national that managed to advance to the semifinals, where this Saturday, May 14, the competition will end in all its categories.
The Erizos Iquique Bodyboard Pro 2022, which has almost USD 70 thousand to distribute in prizes, is organized by the Iquique Municipal Sports Corporation.
