Walker Bay Pro 2022 – Day 2 – HIGHLIGHTS

Day 2 presented the Walker Bay Pro 2022 with beautiful offshore conditions at Onrus. With a building swell pushing into the too big range, the morning saw the running of Men’s Round 3 before competition was called off for the day.

The morning comprised numerous very close heats with the local riders really pushing the international riders to the limit. Benji Olivier led his heat against 3 x World Champ Jeff Hubbard from early on, and it looked liked Benji may just eliminate the Hawaiian from the event. Experience shone through as Jeff managed to snatch the heat win from Benji with a massive invert on his final wave in the dying seconds of the heat.

Tristan Roberts continued to show his local knowledge with some precise and technical riding – pulling a massive backflip in his heat to score 9 point ride and securing the highest heat total of the round. It was far from an easy heat as Wesley Coetzee pushed Tristan hard including a sizeable invert air during the heat.

Iain Campbell, Alan Munoz, Hugo Naude, Alex Nutt and Luke Bruton all advanced through to the next round by winning their heats.

The Walker Bay Pro will resume on Wednesday with check in first thing in the morning… the action will be massive as Women’s Bodyboarding World Champion will be crowned right here at the Walker Bay Pro 2022.
