THE GROM KING JUNIOR MEN RISING SERIES IS LOCKED IN FOR 2026 IN GRAN CANARIA

The IBC World Tour just officially confirmed the final qualifier for the Junior Men Rising Series: the Grom King. This strategic stop on the European calendar will be the ultimate battleground where we’ll find out who gets to chase world glory.

What’s New: A Versatile Venue on the Arucas Coast

The big news for this second edition of the Grom King is the move to the Arucas Coast in northern Gran Canaria. With a three-day waiting window, the crew is putting its money on mobility and epic wave quality. The contest can move between the town’s best spots to make sure these rising stars get the absolute best wind and swell conditions.

Some of the potential spots include:

Molocai: A hollow A-frame wave (lefts and rights) breaking over sandbars, which are perfect in September.

Los Enanos: Powerful, barreling breaks over a sandy bottom.

Quintanilla: A consistent, long left-hander peeling over a reef.

El Puertillo: A volcanic left reef break known for working year-round.

The Road to the Grand Finale

The event is locked for September 10th to 13th, a crucial slot on the international schedule. This will be the last chance for Junior Men athletes to secure their spot in the grand finale at the Gran Canaria Frontón King (October 17th to 31st), where the World Champion will be crowned.

The main goal of the IBC World Tour Rising Series is to support the all-around growth of these young athletes. This format lets junior riders compete at the highest level while keeping costs down and protecting their school schedules as much as possible. By picking the best from each continent, it preps them both mentally and technically to take on one of the most feared and respected waves on the planet: El Frontón.

Heads up, Canarian riders!

To back local talent, the organizers have confirmed that the Grom King will also count toward the Canarian Bodyboard Circuit, running hand-in-hand with the FCS (Canarian Surfing Federation).

Arucas y el Mar Festival

This event will go down as part of the annual festival celebrated on the Arucas coast, known as La Feria de Arucas y el Mar (The Arucas and the Sea Festival).
