IQUIQUE, May 9, 2024 – As the Iquique Bodyboard Pro 2024 enters its penultimate day of competition, athletes from around the world continue to showcase their talent and skill on the waves of Playa Bellavista in the capital of the Tarapacá Region.

Among the standout performers are Joaquín Soto, Marcelo Faúndez, and Bastián Venegas from Iquique, who remain strong contenders for the title in their respective divisions. Soto, the 2019 junior champion, and Faúndez, the current number one in the local Iquique circuit, are set to compete in the quarterfinals of the men’s category, while Venegas, a 17-year-old junior, has already secured a spot in the semifinals.

In the women’s division, attention is focused on Luna Hardman, Maira Viana, and Maylla Venturín from Brazil, who are vying for victory against tough competition, including former world champion Johanna Schenker from Portugal.

In an exciting turn of events, Chilean juniors Mikelle Arriagada, Esteben Godoy, and Bastian Venegas, along with Peruvian junior world champion Michael Yancce, have advanced to the semifinals, showcasing their remarkable talent on both left and right waves.

Unfortunately, due to low tide conditions, the quarterfinals had to be postponed to Friday, May 10th, adding to the anticipation of what promises to be an exhilarating showdown between top competitors, including David Hubbard from Hawaii, Tristan Roberts from South Africa, and Uri Valadão from Brazil.
