IBC Condemns Violence: A Strong Rejection of Aggression and Intolerance.

The IBC World Tour is deeply concerned and disturbed by the recent incident involving two athletes during the dates of the Iquique Bodyboard Pro event. While the altercation occurred outside the event area, we condemn all forms of violent and aggressive behavior, regardless of the circumstances.

The situation, which stemmed from a sporting outcome, was initially managed by the event promoter from the very first day. However, despite the recommendations and guidance provided by the organizing committee, one of the athletes chose to react in an aggressive and intolerable manner.

The IBC disciplinary committee, comprised of technical experts and athletes, is currently reviewing the incident to determine the appropriate course of action and sanctions to be applied.

As representatives of the collective body of athletes, coaches, and promoters within the IBC World Tour, we unequivocally denounce all forms of physical, verbal, or online violence. Such behavior is strictly prohibited and carries severe penalties as outlined in the IBC rulebook.

It is important to note that both the event organizer and the IBC took proactive measures within their capacity to address the situation. However, the escalation of violence witnessed yesterday was unforeseen and challenging to manage, particularly as it occurred away from the competition area.

The IBC World Tour deeply regrets that incidents such as these overshadow the exemplary conduct of the remaining 160 athletes and tarnish the reputation of this wonderful event.

We remain committed to ensuring the safety and integrity of all participants and spectators involved in IBC events. Any further updates regarding this matter will be communicated in due course.
