The longest-running contest in bodyboarding history is handing out a record-breaking $30K purse for the women, making it a absolute make-or-break event for the world titles and the 2027 qualification spots.
From September 1 to 6, the global bodyboard scene moves to Portugal for the 30th edition of the Sintra Bodyboard Pro Fest. Featuring the Women Prime Series and Men Rising Series, this is a crucial stop with just two events left in these divisions to wrap up the 2026 season.
Record Cash for the Women (Women Prime Series)
This 30-year milestone brings the biggest payday in women’s bodyboarding history: a $30,000 prize purse alongside 3,000 ranking points. As the penultimatum Prime Series event, each rider’s top 3 results will decide who gets a shot at the World Title at the season finale in Brazil (ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboard Pro), while locking in the Top 12 spots for 2027.
The title race comes down to four heavy hitters:
• Namika Yamashita (JPN – #1): Coming off a win at the opener and her best-ever Sintra finish, the 2025 runner-up wants to lock down that top spot.
• Joana Schenker (POR – #2): Sitting on two world titles, the Portuguese legend is hunting for another crown 9 years after her last one.
• Luna Hardman (BRA – #3): Fresh off a win at the Miss Quebramar Cup, Brazil’s rising star needs a huge result here to keep her title dreams alive heading home.
• Filipa Broeiro (POR – #4): The defending champ in Sintra needs another big podium to stay in the world title conversation.

Top 16 Cut and the Clash of Legends (Men Rising Series)
For the men, best 4 results count. Sintra is the last major chance to stack points before October’s final showdown at the Gran Canaria Frontón King. With Tristan Roberts, Amaury Lavernhe, and Pierre-Louis Costes already locked into the 2027 Top 16, everyone else is scrambling:
• Armide Soliveres (ESP – #4): The 2024 World Champ just needs a 5th-place finish to lock in his spot.
• Éder Luciano (BRA): Needs a 2nd-place finish to seal the deal.
• Badr Eddine (MAR) & Ethan Capdeville (FRA): Hunting for a 5th and 9th place finish to guarantee their spots.
Plus, we’ve got the rivalry for the “King of Sintra” title between Pierre-Louis Costes (holding the record with 5 wins, including 2022, 2024, and 2025) and Uri Valadão (taking wins here going back to 2005).
