The Women’s division riders brought their A-game, showing off top-tier technical skills despite some seriously gnarly sea conditions and heavy currents.

The final day kicked off at 9:30 AM local time with the quarterfinal man-on-man heats. The matchup tree turned out to be a wild showdown, setting up a head-to-head battle between Portugal and Brazil in every single heat.

Quarterfinals:

• Heat 1: Maira Viana (Brazil) punched her ticket to the semis by taking down former Portuguese world champ Joana Schenker, locking in her spot with a slick air roll on a left that scored a solid 7.00.

• Heat 2: Local rider Teresa Padrela (Portugal) pulled off a big upset by beating five-time world champ Neymara Carvalho (Brazil), dropping a 7.50 score for a clean 12.60 total.

• Heat 3: Battling crazy strong currents, Marta Leitão (Portugal) managed to outplay Brazil’s Bianca Simões.

The Finals: The main event brought an all-Brazilian showdown between two world champions—a total physical and mental grind given the heavy ocean conditions. It came right down to the wire, decided by barely a point, but Luna Hardman pulled off the win to be crowned the ultimate champion in Costa Nova.
